MARGATE/FL – USA: Authorities at the Central Broward Regional Park have added a third pitch to the playing square at the sprawling facility.
The ground which is the only International Cricket Council (ICC) approved venue in North America will play host to the 12th Edition of the US Open T20 tournament from December 15 to 20.
Chairman and CEO of Cricket Council USA (CCUSA) Mahammad Qureshi paid a visit to the venue on Monday and saw first hand the work being done.
He said: “There is now a third pitch added to the square which means we are going to play the finals on a new pitch. Normally there are two pitches at the venue but the addition of the third gives us that opportunity to have fresh pitches throughout the tournament, instead of matches being played on the same one over and over.”

Qureshi who has been using the facility since inception for a host of tournaments added that he is happy with the progress of the work as the US Open T20 approaches. “I am happy with what I saw on my visit to the ground. They are really coming along nicely after the Covid 19 break.”
In the interim CCUSA has held meetings with team owners to bring them up to date as far as their responsibilities are concerned in terms of the Covid 19 protocols.
This year CCUSA has cut the number of teams to eight from the usual 32 due to the pandemic and all the matches will be played inside the stadium.
