DELRAY BEACH/FL – USA: The popular USA Nationals Maq T10 tournament which was carded for this weekend at the Maq Stadium in Delray Beach has been postponed due to the inclement weather currently being experienced in Fort Lauderdale.
Chairman of CEO of Cricket Council USA (CCUSA) Mahammad Qureshi said that there is no way that the ground will be ready for Saturday given the magnitude of rain that has belted down on Fort Lauderdale.
Four teams were scheduled to battle for the crown with international players also flying in to compete. According to Qureshi: “We have taken the decision to postpone the USA Nationals Maq T10 tournament because of the rain. When you look at the forecast the only day that looks good is Sunday. I paid a visit to the ground today and saw first hand the amount of water there.
“The drainage at the Maq Stadium is very good but given the fact that rain is expected to fall even Saturday, it rules out the tournament.
“We have decided that with all the international players around we will play a game on Sunday.” Qureshi said it is his hope to have the tournament played before the US Open T20 which starts on December 15. “We are hoping that we can find another weekend before the US Open T20 to play the USA Nationals Maq 10. We will be trying to make this happen and will keep the teams informed.”
