USA Nationals held in memory of Aijaz Qureshi

SUNRISE/FL – USA: The 2023 Maq T10 USA Nationals carded to get underway on Saturday, October  21 at the Central Broward Regional Park in Sunrise, Fort Lauderdale, will be held in memory of former Cricket Council USA (CCUSA) director Aijaz Qureshi.

Aijaz, an executive member of Cricket Council USA( CCUSA) unfortunately passed away last weekend and was buried on Monday at the Muslim cemetery in Hialeah. He had been a long standing member of CCUSA and a great supporter of cricket. His younger brother Mahammad Maq Qureshi is the chairman of CCUSA and he made the decision that moving forward this T10 tournament will be held in the memory of his late brother.

The tournament’s main objective is to give players an opportunity to showcase themselves in order to make the national team and also to get picked up by teams for the 2023 US Open in December. According to Maq: “Aijaz was a big part of CCUSA and in addition to being a role model to be and a father figure he give a lot to the sport. We have decided to honor him with this tournament and the player hunting program moving forward.

“His loss is immense for us as a family and also the CCUSA family as well. We will do our endeavour best to keep his memory alive through this cricket tournament.”
