BOCA RATON/FL – USA: Cricket Council USA (CCUSA) was thrown into mourning early Sunday morning October 8 by the passing of executive member Aijaz Qureshi.
The elder in the Qureshi family was the bigger brother of chairman of CCUSA Mahammad Qureshi and had left Karachi Pakistan and settled into Boca Raton for the past few decades.
Aijaz was ailing for a while and although he put up a brave fight he succumbed on Saturday. He leaves to mourn his wife as well as his children Tania, Sana and Yasir.
Maq Qureshi said of his brother’s passing: “Aijaz was my big brother and one who was instrumental in my development in Pakistan. He was always very strict and disciplined and I learnt a lot from him.
“He was instrumental in the development of CCUSA and gave a lot to cricket as well. We will surely miss him and his loss will leave an irreplaceable void in all our lives.”
Aijaz’s funeral was set for 6pm at the Muslim cemetery in South Hialeah, USA on Monday evening.
