CCUSA to host Legends tournament in Grenada

Cricket Council USA (CCUSA) will host a Legends cricket tournament in Grenada from November 4 to 11 at the National Stadium.

That’s according to news coming from CCUSA’s headquarters in Margate, Florida. 

The tournament which is for players over 50 will see five teams battling for the first prize. There will be four teams from over the world, flying into beautiful Grenada with one local team participating . The team will also be sponsored by CCUSA.

The format of the tournament will be a round-robin one, at the end of which the two top teams will progress to the championship match. 

Chairman of CCUSA Mahammad Qureshi says Legends cricket coming to the Caribbean is big for his organization. “What we have done is to get Legends players interested in going to the Caribbean to play there. This will open many doors for collaboration between Grenada and the rest of the world in terms of cricket.

“We want to thank the government of Grenada and the Grenada Cricket Association (GCA) for giving us this opportunity as we strive to build cricket all over the world.”

Minister for Sports, Hon. Ron Redhead says the interest of the US Cricket Legends is fantastic for Sports tourism. “Sports Tourism is high on the Government of Grenada’s agenda and we look forward to this excellent collaboration.” This is another avenue to market our beautiful island. Added to that they are not just coming to play cricket but they will also have opportunities to interact with our people and enjoy everything Grenada has to offer.
