MARGATE/FL – USA: The USA National Maq T10 Championship hosted annually by Cricket Council USA (CCUSA) is back on after being postponed earlier this year due to the Covid 19 Pandemic. This is the news coming from chairman and CEO of CCUSA Mahammad Qureshi. He said that the tournament this year will be played from November 14 to 15 at the Maq Cricket Stadium in Delray Beach, Florida. According to Qureshi: “Earlier this year we were supposed to stage the USA Nationals Maq T10 championships but because of the Coronavirus, we had to hold our hands on it. Since then we have reinstituted cricket on a phased basis at the Maq Stadium and we feel comfortable enough to stage the USA Nationals Maq T10 in November”.

For a few months now cricket has been staged at the Maq Stadium and a number of improvements have occurred at the sprawling venue. There are now improved dressing rooms with a lot of space, park benches that allow for social distancing, and also sanitizing stations. In an effort to ensure that the food provided is also safe, a number of bar-b-que pits have been installed around the ground so teams can socially distance themselves and cook their food.Qureshi continued: “We are happy with all the Coronavirus protocols we have carried out at the venue and we feel confident all will come off well in November.” The tournament is normally staged at the Central Broward Regional Park, the only International Cricket Council (ICC) approved venue in North America but Qureshi explained that the venue might not be opened in time by the local authorities. “Central Broward might not be opened and with all the improvements we have made at the Maq Cricket Stadium, we feel confident that we can stage the tournament there.”
