HYDERABAD/PAKISTAN: After a successful run in Hafizabad recently, Major Cricket League Pakistan has decided to take the league to Hyderabad where the second edition of the tournament will be played from August 26 to 29 at the impressive Niaz Stadium.

Again six franchise teams will be vying for honours at this tournament and they are Hyderabad Jaguars, Hafizabad Stallions, Islamabad Tigers, Lahore Lions, Faisalabad Bears and Karachi Sharks. Lahore Lions are the defending champions and will be looking to keep their title. The Jaguars are a new team and will be hoping that home advantage will play into their hands.

Chairman and CEO for MCL Pakistan Mahammad Qureshi says this is another opportunity for Pakistan’s cricketers. “We had a very good tournament at the Maq Stadium in Hafizabad and this has given us the encouragement to continue our work. We are doing this so that cricketers across Pakistan can get an opportunity to showcase their talent on the wide world scene. We had viewership on MaqTv that was around 5 million during this tournament, so think about how many potential employers would have seen these talented cricketers. At the end of the tournament we choose 14 players who will now go on to play on other leagues, like the US Open T20.

“This is another chance for another 14 cricketers to be recognised and given opportunities to play elsewhere and to make a livelihood from cricket. We are keen to see what would happen in Hyderabad and we look forward to welcoming the players again. Our committee in Pakistan has been working very hard and I also want to recognize their efforts.”

“This is a significant time for cricket in Hyderabad as MCL is coming to town and we wish all the cricketers all the best at this tournament.”
