MARGATE/FL – USA: While strife continues in US cricket with the latest battle between USA Cricket and the league organizers of the upcoming Major League Cricket, cricket officials are saying that Cricket Council USA (CCUSA) is the only stable body in the USA.
At present the MLC which had its player draft a couple days ago has been caught in the battle with USA Cricket over sanctioning of the tournament. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has gotten involved and now they have sent out instructions to their members not to grant No Objection Certificates (NOC) for their players until the situation is resolved.
This has prompted executive member of the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board (TTCB) Stephen Ramkissoon to come out with the bold statement that Cricket Council USA (CCUSA) is the most stable cricket administration in the US. “I have followed the developments when it comes to cricket in the United States and I can tell you that I am not surprised by the continued administration strife. In my humble opinion Cricket Council USA (CCUSA) is by far the most stable cricket body in the United States and is moving in the right direction when it comes to pushing cricket to the masses.
“The only way the game will grow is by introducing it to the masses. CCUSA I have noticed is hosting well organized tournaments over and over and keeping players busy in the US without looking for control or fame. I tip my hat to the chairman of CCUSA Mahammad Qureshi who I met on the recent trip to Trinidad. He is doing a wonderful trip and it is my hope that the cricket stakeholders see what this man is doing.”
Another cricket official the former president of the Secondary Schools Cricket League Surujdath Mahabir echoed similar sentiments saying that the Qureshi-led CCUSA has helped young cricketers even as far away as Trinidad. “What I can’t understand is CCUSA is good enough to help cricketers even outside the US and the ruling body USA Cricket seems unable to help cricketers right there in the US. I think that they should get Qureshi involved in cricket at some level because he knows what to do.”
