SUNRISE/FL – The US All Stars romped into the semis of the US Open T20 tournament when won their second match of the tournament against Samp Army by four wickets at the Central Broward Regional Park in Fort Lauderdale Friday night.
Skipper and all-rounder Zishawn Qureshi was again in good form taking two wickets, while fellow spinners Rajesh Sharma and Rameez Ahmed also came good with two wickets apiece. Canadian Saad Bin Zafar also bowled well to claim 2/22.
After their work, all Samp Army could muster was 103 all out in 19.4 overs. Things could have been even worse for them had it not been for 22 from Kunal Shegal. Qureshi 2/21 followed his 3/35 on Thursday night against Somerset Cavaliers. Sharma who took four wickets against Punjab Blues and two against Somerset now sits as the US All Stars leading bowler with seven wickets after three matches.
Set a small matter of 104 runs for victory the US All Stars ran out the blocks quickly through Multan Sultan’s Zeeshan Ashraf who slammed 32. After the unfortunate run out of Qureshi for five, Ashraf and US batsman Jaskaran Malothra took the score to 63/1 before a stutter saw them lose five further wickets before getting to their target.
They will now play second place in Group B in the semis on Saturday and it looks as if that will be Rayad Emrit’s Atlanta Param Veers.
