MARGATE/FL – USA: Cricket Council USA (CCUSA) is confident they will pull off a safe and successful 2020 US Open T20 come December.
This according to the chairman of the tournament committee Shah Zafar. Speaking on Maqtv on Monday he said: “We have followed all the guidelines set out and we will be ready in terms of the Covid 19 protocols when the tournament comes around. The 12th edition of the popular tournament will bowl off on December 15 at the Central Broward Regional Park and will involve eight teams.
Shah continued: “We will be asking the teams to create little bubbles by staying within their groups. At the stadium, there will be regular sanitizing of the dressing rooms and dugouts so the players can be safe. We will be asking the players to also be respectful of the guidelines set out as this will help us. Even if teams come early for their games, there will be designated areas in the stands clearly marked out for them.
“The goal here is to ensure the social distancing. We have also looked at the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Covid 19 guidelines and we will be following this closely. We have been in contact with Broward County and we await their sign off on our proposed guidelines.”
