PORT-OF-SPAIN/WI – The visit by chairman of Cricket Council USA (CCUSA) Mahammad Qureshi to Trinidad and Tobago has been hailed a success by president of the T&T Cricket Board (TTCB) Azim Bassarath.

Qureshi paid a one-week visit to the twin-island republic visiting the TTCB head offices in Couva where he met with Bassarath and a number of executive members. Speaking to News925 Bassarath said: “We were very happy to welcome the chairman of CCUSA Mahammad Qureshi. He spent a good time with us and got a firsthand idea of how we run cricket in this country.

“We had a chance to witness some cricket played as well as he was our ‘guest of honour’ at the annual North/South Cricket match which took place at the National Cricket Centre.”

Bassarath, who is also an executive member of Cricket West Indies added: “Qureshi has shown an inclination to help us here in Trinidad and Tobago with our cricket and we have welcomed his ideas.” Without giving specific details Bassarath said talks were held and an announcement will be made soon. “We held talks on various fronts and over the next period we will flesh out the details and see what we can bring on stream first.

“It was important to have Qureshi here, as he was able to see our needs and he was ready and willing to assist. We also discussed sharing or resources and talent, whereby we can assist him at CCUSA and he can do likewise. A number of our players take part in his US Open T20 tournament and they have brought value over the years. We will continue to work closely for the benefit of cricket moving forward.”
