TAMPA/FL – USA: All rounder Zishawn Qureshi was in great form on Saturday, as he led his team Rebels to a 26-run win over the Tampa Bay Legends in the latest round of matches in the Tampa league in the US.
The US All Stars captain had a major role in his team’s comfortable win, as they defended a score of 137, bowling out Tampa Bay Legends for 111 with three balls to spare.
Qureshi was named the joint man of the match with Muneer Merchant for his excellent bowling. Batting first, Rebels made 137/6 off their 20 overs with Ashish Patel hitting 38 off 32 balls with four fours and a six. Merchant scored a run-a-ball 29 to add to the cause. At the top of the batting order, Qureshi made 10 to get his team off to a quick start in the powerplay.
Tampa Bay then set about their reply and after reaching a comfortable 36 for one, Qureshi, who bowled very well at the US Open T20 tournament back in December in Florida, came into his own to change the match.
With Sanjay Ganesh and Kingsley Robinson causing Rebels some anxious moments, Qureshi turned the match on its head with a double strike. First, he sent back Robinson who was caught by Patel and then made the big strike, by sending back Ganesh for 22 off 17 balls.
After this double strike, the Rebels came back into the game and some great bowling towards the end by Rahul Desai 3/15, finished off the match with Tampa falling for 111.
