The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchises are currently holding discussions to determine a proper solution for the conclusion of the tournament’s 5th season, which was suspended due to the coronavirus outbreak just before the knockout stages.

According to close sources, the board officials conducted a special meeting regarding the matter and forwarded their suggestions to Chairman Ehsan Mani and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Wasim Khan.

The PCB’s top hierarchy is reportedly willing to discuss the suitable suggestions with the franchises, in a video conference, later this week. Director Media Samiul Hasan Burney earlier said that no meeting is scheduled for this week.

Sources further claimed that the PCB is willing to ensure that the remaining games of the tournament also take place in order to earn the revenue made from gate-money and broadcasting rights.

Last week, Wasim Khan revealed that the PCB is studying 3 options in order to crown this year’s champions. These options include: giving the title to the top-ranked side, Multan Sultans, in case the playoffs can’t take place, hosting the tournament in November or playing the remaining games one week before next year’s edition.

It must be noted that Multan Sultans’ all-rounder Shahid Afridi, spin bowling coach Mushtaq Ahmed and fast-bowling coach Azhar Mahmood have already voiced their opinion in favour of crowning their franchise as this year’s champions.
