MARGATE/FL – USA: The postponed USA Nationals Maq T10 tournament will be played according to the chairman of Cricket Council USA (CCUSA) Mahammad Qureshi.
The top administrator revealed to 925 News that the popular USA Nationals Maq T10 series which was carded for April 16 to 19 has been canceled and not postponed. According to Qureshi: “There is a big difference between postponed and cancel. We have postponed the tournament because of the Covid 19 crisis. At this time we have to be careful and this decision was taken out of an abundance of caution.”
Qureshi said that once the virus clears the tournament is more than likely to be held in September of this year. “We know how important this tournament is on the US cricket calendar and as such we will make all efforts to stage it once the situation with the virus clears up. So far we are looking at September of this year but as time draws closer we will look at the situation and make another assessment.
“For now we are planning to stage the tournament in September and we are working on that time frame. We were already working towards staging the tournament in April, so plans are advanced. When we finalized a date in September it would not take much work to bring it off. We have an experienced group of administrators at CCUSA and all will be in place. However, at the moment we have no control of what is taking place and once the situation with the virus is no longer a threat we will press on to have the tournament.”
