ARKANSAS/USA – Mahammad Maq Qureshi was in good form with the bat but the World Stars still went under by a massive 123 runs to Mavericks in the opening match of the 2023 MCL Arkansas at the Roger’s Park.
Batting first in good conditions Mavericks made 211/5 in their 20 overs. Qureshi then top scored for World Stars with 29 as they folded for 90 runs in 17.3 overs. Qureshi led a lone fight and was the eight wicket to fall after opening the batting. The right hander using the offside to good effect struck three fours. The pick of the bowlers for Mavericks were Akash Patel 3/16, Yuma Hossaini 2/17 and Bilal Khan 2/6.
Earlier, Mavericks got 78 from opener Shahriyar Amir which led their efforts. He faced 47 balls hitting three sixes and four fours. Also among the runs was Bilal Khan with 49 not out off 19 balls which included five sixes and two fours.
The tournament continues Saturday with two matches.
