MARGATE/ USA – The fact that international cricketers and teams are coming to take part in the Maq T10, USA Nationals, means that the quality if cricket will be higher and those lucky enough participate will be better off for the experience.

Chairman of Cricket Council USA (CCUSA), Mahammad Qureshi says that there are a number of cricketers who go about the leagues here in America and sores a lot of runs but they need to get stiff competition to test whether they will go out there and perform on the international stage.

“Here is a situation that will benefit cricket in America because there are a number of players who go out there and scores hundreds of runs and then they say that USA Cricket is unfair to them and only picking the Indians and Pakistanis. Yes, these guys score runs and take wickets but this is done against sometimes weak opposition.

“When they are chosen and go out on the international stage to represent the country, then they fail and the team looks weak. We have opened this tournament up to include all the local players and also international players. So now if the local players can pass the test, then the national selectors will have an idea, as to who can stand up in international cricket. We are happy to assist in this way by spending the money and hosting this tournament because we want to help make American cricket strong again. We are happy with the fact that the international players are coming because the standard will be great and this is the only way that we can improve cricket here in America.”

The Maq T10, USA Nationals will be played from April 26 to 28 at the Central Broward Regional Park in Fort Lauderdale.
