MARGATE/FL – USA: Only eight teams will battle for the coveted US Open T20 title this December when Cricket Council USA (CCUSA) hosts their 12th edition of the popular tournament.
Chairman and CEO of CCUSA Mahammad Qureshi confirmed on Thursday that the teams have been declared at eight and the battle will be amongst them for the title. The eight teams taking part are Al Masafi, Brampton Pacers, Somerset Cavilliers, Punjab Blues, SAMP Army, Atlanta Paramveer, US All Stars/Falcons/Multan, and 22 Yards.
According to Qureshi: “Due to the Covid 19 we have been forced to reduce the number of teams. We had 109 teams registering for the tournament but sadly we had to choose eight, which were the first set of teams that paid up their registration.
“We will not be allowing any spectators into the Central Broward Regional Park because we have to take control in terms of the Covid 19 protocols. We will only allow the players and management into the ground. Those wishing to watch the tournament will have to switch on to MaqTv for ‘live’ coverage.”
CCUSA is working closely with Broward County to ensure that the venue is safe and they are working under the International Cricket Council (ICC) Covid 19 guidelines.
