MARGATE/FL – USA: Cricket administrators in the United States have been told to follow in the footsteps of the chairman of Cricket Council USA (CCUSA) Mahammad Qureshi.

This call comes from Cricket West Indies (CWI) director Azim Bassarath. Speaking on all the recent developments within cricket in the US, especially the eagerly awaited Major League, Bassarath said as an onlooker one would have seen a lot of problems in the administration of US cricket over the years and now with all the opportunities coming their way, they have to tighten up as administrators.

Speaking to News925 he said: “When you look at the problems in American cricket over the years, one has to temper their optimism as far as the Major league is concerned. To me, the only stable organization I have seen in the US is Cricket Council USA (CCUSA). Their leader there Maq Qureshi seems to be a no-nonsense man and a well-organized individual. He has also put his money where his mouth is and we must appreciate the work he has done in the midst of all the turmoil in American cricket.

“Moving forward, I hope that he is invited to be a part of the Major league and if not, I would like to urge the young up-and-coming administrators in America to take their lead from him. He seems to be an excellent administrator and even our cricketers here in the Caribbean have benefitted from his work.”
