BOCA RATON/FL – USA: All rounder Zishawn Qureshi leaves this morning for England where he will line up for Elland in league cricket there.
This is significant as he becomes the first American cricketer to play in the English leagues and this will open up the doors to many more American cricketers going to the ‘home of cricket’ to hone their skills.
Qureshi has been working hard at his game looking for opportunities like this and it has come to him now. Elland Cricket Club plays in the Huddersfield Drakes Cricket League. The league will be played from April 17 to September 11.
The left-arm orthodox spinner and hard-hitting right-handed batsman is looking forward to playing in England. “This will be my first time there and I am really looking forward to playing in the league. This will be an excellent opportunity for me to play in a foreign environment and develop my game.”
The Orlando resident added that he will be giving his best effort for the club. “I am keen to get out there and also assist the club. I will be their foreign players and I am sure they will be depending on me a lot and I don’t want to disappoint.
“It’s exciting to have the opportunity to play in England. For me it’s a dream come true. On a personal note I’ll be playing a different role then I have in the past. So I’ll be looking forward to excelling with the bowl and continue working on the new things I’ve picked up in the past month of preparation.”
