US Open gains sanction

The 2023 US Open T20 tournament has been sanctioned by USA Cricket and also the International Cricket Council (ICC) and all is set for play to commence on December 8 at the Central Broward Regional Park in Fort Lauderdale, USA. 

Chairman and CEO of Cricket Council USA (CCUSA) Mahammad Qureshi revealed that his organisation who owns the tournament has met all the necessary criteria for the tournament to be sanctioned and they have received all approvals. 

This year will be the richest in the tournament’s history with prizes totalling US$250,000.

A number of teams have already signed up for the tournament and are fine tuning their preparations for the Fort Lauderdale Cricket extravaganza. 

According to Qureshi: “We are all excited for this year’s tournament and all is in place for a wonderful time.

“A number of international stars will be flying in for the tournament and it will be great for the local players to rub shoulders with them. The ultimate goal is to help build US cricket and we think that a lot of benefit will come out of this year’s event.”

The tournament runs from December 8 to 16.
