ARKANSAS/USA – Hosts Titan cricket club will be aiming to go one better when the 2023 edition of the Major Cricket League (MCL) Arkansas bowls off on Friday at the Rogers playing field in Arkansas.

United Cricket Club created history by becoming the first team to win the MCL Arkansas last year when they defeated highly fancied Titans cricket club at the Roger’s Playing field. United started the tournament badly losing to Warriors CC but ended on a high when they defeated unbeaten Titans in the championship match. Batting first United scored 127/7 off their 20 overs which looked an under par score. However, their bowling was top notch on the day and brought home a most famous victory for the club, as Titans were bowled out for 115 with an over to spare.

This time around United will not be defending their title but Titans are there and will be hoping to claim the title. Titans have won two MCL titles before, both in Tampa (2021 and 2022). They will be looking to claim their third MCL title at home.

The other three teams taking part will be the World Stars, Udaan and Mavericks. The action gets going on Friday with the first match taking place at 2.30pm and involving World Stars against Mavericks. After this the action then shifts to Saturday for three matches and then Sunday for another three including the championship game.

Chairman of Cricket Council USA (CCUSA) the owners of the MCL Mahammad Qureshi said they were very pleased to be heading back to Arkansas. “We have been trying our level best to build cricket in these parts and we are happy to be back for the second edition of the MCL. The first edition was very exciting and went down to the wire and we are hoping for more great action again.”
