TAMPA/FL – USA: The weather forecast for this coming weekend is not favorable for cricket in Tampa and hence the inaugural MCL President’s Cup has been postponed.
A directive sent out by the tournament committee at Cricket Council USA (CCUSA) indicated that on Saturday there is a 60 percent chance of rain and on Sunday a 90 percent chance, hence a decision was taken to postpone the matches.
The committee is expected to convene a meeting soon to reschedule the tournament at a time when the weather will be more favorable.
The tournament originally carded for this weekend in Tampa was to take the 20 overs format and it would have been the first time that the tournament was being held. Chairman of CCUSA Mahammad Qureshi said: “Unfortunately we have to cancel the tournament because of the adverse weather bulletin we have seen. The committee will meet soon to find an appropriate date to play the matches. I want to assure all stakeholders that the matches will be played because we are committed to taking the game to Tampa. We will advise as soon as a decision is made on the new dates.”
