CCUSA on the move again

Cricket Council USA (CCUSA) continues to be the flag bearer for cricket in the United States and will host the President’s Cup in Tampa Florida this weekend.
The Mahammad Qureshi-led cricket organization has become the sole body that has been working year-round in creating opportunities for cricketers. The President’s Cup comes on the heels of the US Open T20 cricket tournament that was held in December. In between these two tournaments, CCUSA has been hosting local matches at the Maq Stadium in Delray Beach.
The President’s Cup this weekend in Tampa will take the 20 overs format and is the first time that the tournament is being held. Qureshi said: “We have a number of tournaments throughout the year and we plan to get the President’s Cup in on our cricket calendar. We have partnered with Prahlad Madubushi and his organization to give cricket in Tampa a boost. I have always said we are no rivals to Cricket USA, we want to help by being a feeder body to the national set up.
“We see this as our role and we have been playing that role over the past 20 years. We have eight regions across America and we plan to continue our development work in all. I have appointed regional directors across the areas we cover and we intend to look closely into staging tournaments in these areas. For example, we have a highly popular tournament in our Mid West Region Chicago every year and now we are Tampa. Cricketers depend on us to provide them with opportunities and this is what we are about. We are here for cricket and nothing else. I have spent millions in promoting the sport and it gives me great pleasure when I see what we have achieved thus far.”
