MARGATE/FL – USA: Chairman and CEO of Cricket Council USA (CCUSA) Mahammad Qureshi has been singled out for praises after he got International Cricket Council (ICC) approval for the upcoming US Open T20 tournament at the Central Broward Regional Park from December 15 to 20.
Cricket West Indies (CWI) director Azim Bassarath said Qureshi continues to bring stability in America’s cricket. Over the years we have seen problems in America’s cricket administration but what I have noticed is that this guy Qureshi seems to be the stabilizing force up there.

“It is great that the International Cricket Council and also USA Cricket can recognize the effort of this gentleman and grant him sanction for his tournament. This US Open T20 tournament has been a wonderful addition to the cricketing landscape not only in America but in the Western Hemisphere. A number of our cricketers from the West Indies have benefitted from going across to the US and taking part in this tournament. The feedback we have gotten is that the tournament is of high quality with international players.”
West Indies T20 captain Kieron Pollard has been a major player at the US Open T20 as well as Lendl Simmons, Nicolas Pooran, Andre Russell, Evin Lewis, Sunil Narine, Dwayne Bravo, and Darren Bravo.
Bassarath added that in his neck of the woods Trinidad, Qureshi, and CCUSA has also helped in the development of cricketers by hosting the Maq North/South Classic Youth Classic.
“Qureshi has shown his love for the sport and his love for people and hence he has invested heavily and it is good that he gets the recognition. I want on behalf of Cricket West Indies and the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board (TTCB) to wish him and his cricket association all the best in the upcoming US Open T20 tournament.”
