All-rounder Zishawn Qureshi continues to progress nicely in his career as he grabbed another big scalp playing in the LA Open.

Playing for Samp Army the left-arm orthodox spinner was able to send back Corey Anderson the former New Zealand International batsman. The left-hander was in his element trying to get his team LA Titans to a victory target of 213 runs, when Qureshi cut him down. Anderson who is now qualified to play for America was at the time on 40 off just 28 balls, having struck three sixes and a four when he was dismissed.

Batting first, Samp Army made an impressive 212/5 off 20 overs with USA national player Monank Patel scoring 73 off 43 balls with five sixes and two fours. Also among the runs were Barbadian Kevin Stoute 60 not out and Shehan Jayasuriya 48. Stoute got his runs from 34 balls with a six and six fours, while Jayasuriya made 48 off 29 balls with a six and six fours.

In response, Titans made 150/8 losing the match by a handsome 63 runs. Qureshi speaking after the game said he was happy with the ‘big fish’: “To get a player like Corey Anderson is big for me. He is a very good player and one that will soon play for the United States. Getting his wicket was key for our team because he was on 40 and well set.” At the last US Open T20 tournament, Qureshi also accounted for the dangerous Andre Russell.
