BOCA RATON/FL – USA: All-rounder Zishawn Qureshi became the first American cricketer to play in the English cricket league as he has signed a contract with Elland Cricket Club.
Qureshi has been working hard at his game looking for opportunities like this and it has come to him now. Elland Cricket Club plays in the Huddersfield Drakes Cricket League. The league will be played from April 17 to September 11.
The left-arm orthodox spinner and hard-hitting right-handed batsman is looking forward to playing in England. “This will be my first time there and I am really looking forward to playing in the league. This will be an excellent opportunity for me to play in a foreign environment and develop my game.”
The Orlando resident added that he will be giving his best effort for the club. “I am keen to get out there and also assist the club. I will be their foreign players and I am sure they will be depending on me a lot and I don’t want to disappoint. Prior to going to England I will be working hard on my game and may even jet off to Trinidad to polish up at a well-known Cricket Academy in that country.”
In the meantime, he plans to continue playing in the Maq Cricket League to work on his fitness and match readiness.
