Major Cricket League (MCL) Pakistan has received a major fillip with the news that the Lalani Group from America has taken over one of the franchises namely the Islamabad Tigers.
The Lalani Group is headed by businessman Asif Lalani who lives in Tampa, Florida. He was born on May 1, 1975 in Karachi, Pakistan. He has been in the US for quite a while and has been very successful in the sphere of business, so much so that he wants to give back to his native Pakistan through the MCL.
“I was approached by Mahammad Qureshi to assist our country’s up and coming cricketers and I have decided to get onboard. I want to wish all the cricketers in Pakistan who are taking part in this wonderful tournament all the best.
The action gets going on May 2 and ends with the grand finals on May 7, with all matches taking place at the Maq Cricket ground in Hafizabad. A total of six franchise teams will be taking part in the T20 series which promises to create great excitement amongst the fans in that part of Pakistan. Each team has investors/sponsors so the players will be well taken care off.
The winner of this tournament will pocked 500,000 Pakistani rupees and the runner-up will carry away 250,000 Pakistani rupees. The six franchises are Lahore Lions, Hafizabad Stallions, Karachi Sharks, Hyderabad Jaguars, Faisalabad Bears and Islamabad Tigers.
Lalani who played the game in Pakistan has continued doing likewise in America and represented Rebels CC on the domestic scene. He was an all-rounder of repute as a right hand batsman and right arm medium fast bowler.
