Gayle, Russell in US Open action today

MARGATE/FL: T20 stars Chris Gayle and Andre Russell will both adorn the 12th US Open T20 tournament with glitz and glamour as they take part in the tournament today.
The first match of the tournament which is being played at the Central Broward Regional Park will bowl off at 10 am with Brampton Pacers coming up against Afghan Zwanan. After this game is out of the way the Universe Boss will grace the field for the first time in US Open T20 history with his team Atlanta Param Veers. They will battle against 22 Yards Sultan CC. Captaining the Atlanta Param Veers will be Trinidadian Rayad Emrit and included on the team is the Trinbago Knight Riders pair of Akeal Hosein and Khary Pierre.
The third and final match of day one will see Andre Russell showcasing his wares as he lines up for Somerset Cavilliers who own the tournament in 2017. Russell has played in the tournament before with his best effort being 110 against the US All Stars in 2017.
The tournament which has catered to eight teams will finish on December 20 and all matches will be played in the bio-secure environment of the Central Broward Regional Park.
The total prize money for this tournament is US$100,000 and players from around the world are taking part.
Chairman of Cricket Council USA (CCUSA) Mahammad Qureshi has welcomed all the teams and is looking forward to a great event. “We are in difficult times and we appreciate all the efforts of everyone to make this 12th edition a reality. We have spoken to the players and they are all adults, they know their responsibility as far as keeping safe and we expect full cooperation from them.”
