Hyderabad Deccans dethroned defending champions Team USA to capture the 2023 Chicago MCL title on Sunday evening at Warren Park.
Batting first USA made 104/5 off their allotted 14 overs. They were in early trouble at 46/5 but Morshed Kalam and Mahammad Qureshi came together to add an unbeaten 58 runs for the sixth wicket that allowed them to go past the 100-run mark.
Kalam made 43 not out off 37 balls, while Qureshi scored 24 not out off 19 deliveries. The best of the bowlers for Deccans was Salman Khan 2/18.
When Deccans replied they found the going easy and raced to a six-wicket victory in just nine overs.
Leading the way was Kamran Syed with 67 and Nasar Hayat 20. Syed faced only 26 balls, hitting seven sixes and four fours. Former Pakistan and USA player Nasir Javed took 2/22 but it wasn’t enough to force a win for his team.
