ELLAN/MANCHESTER – ENGLAND: American all-rounder Zishawn Qureshi in his first outing in England slapped a blistering 60 not out to take his team the KRog XI to a 10-wicket victory over the OBrook XI in a practice match at the Elland Cricket Club in Manchester on the weekend.
Qureshi, who came out of quarantine just three days ago, enjoyed the English conditions and plundered three sixes and seven fours in his 33-ball knock before he retired to give others a chance to bat.
Batting first, the OBrook XI made 178 all out off 36.3 overs and the KRog XI didn’t lose a wicket in chasing down the total. Qureshi looked good and was dominant right from the start.
Speaking to News925 he said: “It was my first knock and I was just happy to get out there and play some cricket. It has been quite a while since I have got into the middle because since coming out of quarantine, I have been just going to the nets. I am really looking forward to making this a successful summer with Elland. This good start although it is just a practice match will give me confidence as I move forward.”
Qureshi said that one of his issues has been the lack of regular cricket and he is looking forward to the next six months and getting a chance to play regular cricket. “Back home, it is just probably one game a weekend and this could not really help a great deal with my development. Being here and having different tournaments to play in, would add up to many matches and this is what I need to take my cricket to the next level.”
