MARGATE/FL – USA: Cricket administrator Mahammad Qureshi is providing a boost to Pakistan cricket by hosting the Maq Cricket League (MCL) Pakistan T20 tournament in Pakistan from April 5 to 11.
This was revealed by the Cricket Management Group (CMG) who will be responsible for staging the tournament with the endorsement of Cricket Council USA (CCUSA).
The tournament carries a winning purse of Rupees one million and five teams will be battling for the coveted title. CMG has put together the
Karachi Sharks, Lahore Lions, Peshwar Eagles, Islamabad Tigers, and Multan Panthers and are now inviting investors to come on board to get the license to run one of the teams. The cost for the investor to gain a license is Rupees 500,000 in the first year.
All matches will be played at the Maq Cricket Stadium in Hafizabad. This ground has been renamed after Mahammad Qureshi and it is a sprawling venue which is sure to attract spectators as the tournament grows.
Speaking about the tournament Qureshi said the beauty of it is that it allows young Pakistanis the opportunity to be spotted and given a chance to visit the United States to play cricket.
“More than prize money, this tournament provides a platform for you Pakistanis no matter their status to have a fair chance to impress cricket administrators, owners and others in America. All the matches will be beamed ‘live’ on MaqTv so the players that perform well can be given a chance to come to America and further develop their game. This is big news for Pakistan’s cricket development and we are working hard to ensure that this comes through.”
