Chairman of Cricket Council USA (CCUSA) Mahammad Qureshi recently visited the finals of the inaugural MLC in Houston and came away with positive comments for the organizers.

The Mumbai Indians on the back of a magnificent century from West Indian Nicolas Pooran took the title.

Qureshi was on hand to witness the finals and it gave him great hope for the future of the sport in the country. “The support for Cricket in the US for this tournament was great and I was happy to be there.

“There was so much excitement and noise you could have hardly hear yourself speak. The crowds came out to support and this shows that the people want the cricket here.”

Qureshi has to take great credit for making people in the United States aware of Cricket. He has spent millions of dollars of his own money to market the sport in the States. He has hosted the very popular US Open T20 tournament since 2008 and continues to spend a lot of money bringing in the top players into the country to battle against the locals.

What this has done is give the locals a platform to match skills with the international players and there game has improved.

Qureshi continues to spend money in developing cricket around the US and his tournaments serve as a feeder to the national set up.
