MARGATE/FL – USA: President of the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board (TTCB) Azim Bassarath has called on chairman of Cricket Council USA (CCUSA) Mahammad Qureshi to get more involved in the running of the sport in the USA.
Qureshi has been doing a lot of work for the development of the sport in America and Bassarath has noticed this. “This one man has done so much for cricket in America and I can’t understand why he is not being included at the highest level of administration of the game there.”
Bassarath asked the question: “Is it that because of his many commitments he does not have the time to be involved at the higher level? This man has to be involved because of far too long America’s cricket has suffered at the hands of poor administration.
“We need good administration to take care of the sport in order for it to grow and once we don’t do that the game will continue to lag behind.”
Bassarath who is also a director on the West Indies Cricket Board added: “We need to understand the work that this man has done and appreciate it. We need to get him involved in some way at the higher level. I have done some research on what he has been able to achieve through CCUSA and this is remarkable. As a matter of fact when you talk to cricketers in Trinidad about the game in America, they all mention the US Open T20 tournament which is staged by CCUSA.”
