ORLANDO, FL – Mahammad Ahmad Qureshi (MAQ), Chairman of Cricket Council USA (CCUSA) and CEO of the MAQ Group, met recently for a private dinner with Orange County Mayor Jerry L. Demings to discuss a shared vision for the future of Florida. The meeting focused on two critical pillars: the expansion of cricket through youth engagement and a collaborative approach to tackling the statewide affordable housing crisis.
Mayor Demings, who is currently campaigning for Governor of Florida, shared his enthusiasm for Qureshi’s long-standing commitment to community development. A primary focus of the evening was the “Youth Cricket Initiative,” aimed at providing Central Florida’s young athletes with world-class facilities and mentorship.
Beyond sports, the two leaders engaged in an in-depth discussion regarding the affordable housing crisis. Qureshi and Mayor Demings explored innovative strategies to ensure that Florida remains a place where working families and the next generation can afford to live and thrive.

“I am deeply grateful for Mayor Demings’ generosity and his hospitality,” said MAQ Qureshi. “It was a pleasure to discuss how we can work together—not just to grow the sport of cricket, but to solve the real-world challenges facing our state, like housing and youth development. His vision for Florida is one of progress and inclusivity.”
