ARKANSAS/USA – Opener Afghan Afghan slammed a wonderful century as Mavericks defeated previously unbeaten Udaan in their third round match as the Arkansas MCL 2023 continued at Roger’s Park on Sunday.
He and inform opener Shahriyar Amir added 95 runs in just 8.3 overs to take Mavericks to a huge 211/6 off their allotted 20 overs. Afghan scored 118 off 55 balls with four sixes and 12 fours, while Amir who has been really consistent during the tournament made 43 runs off 38 balls with two sixes and three fours. None of the Udaan bowlers stood out with four of them taking a wicket each.
In reply, Udaan made a good fist of it but fell short at 189 all out with an over to spare. Siva Yeramati was the best of their batsmen, scoring 45 coming late down the order. He struck three sixes and four fours off 25 balls. Kushal Patel who has been a star with the ball made 23, Radha Chalkpally scored 35 off 21 balls. However their efforts were all in vain as their team still crashed to a 22-run defeat.
