Shayan Jahangir was brilliant in the 2022 US Open T20 tournament and was presented with a gift of land by president of Cricket Council USA (CCUSA) Mahammad Qureshi after he was named tournament MVP.

The right hander was superb during the tournament and ended with the most runs. He was also skipper of the Stallions X team as his led them to the title with a crushing victory over Dallas All Stars.

Jahangir was the leading run scorer at the tournament and scored a magnificent 79 not out in the finals that took his team to the title and the US$100,000 first prize. Batting first, Stallions X made a wonderful 201/4 off their 20 overs on a beautiful batting strip at Central Broward. They then restricted Dallas All Stars to 108 all out in 14.5 over, recording a resounding victory by 93 runs and sparking wild celebrations among their players and fans.

Chairman of CCUSA Qureshi said he was happy to present the parcel of land to Jahangir. “We are very happy to gift the MVP of our tournament this land in Orlando. It is close to Disney World and is worth US$50,000. The land at Indian Lakes includes four lots and is in the community where there is a golf course and country club.”

Jahangir follows in the footsteps of Chris Gayle and Ali Khan both of whom were given land in Orlando for their performances at the 2020 US Open T20 tournament.

Jahangir was happy with the presentation of the land. “I am just happy with all the awards I won today and just want to thanks to God for this. We came at the US Open and worked very hard to take our team to the title and we are happy with the performance of everyone. I am also happy with my current form and want to carry this form into other tournaments.”

Jahangir was recently called up to the USA senior team for their white ball tournaments
