MARGATE/FL – USA: It will be a celebration of life! So says chairman of Cricket Council USA (CCUSA) Mahammad Qureshi when it comes to the 2020 US Open T20 tournament that is carded for December 16 to 20 at the Central Broward Regional Park.

With all cricket in America stopped due to the Covid 19 pandemic, Qureshi says that this dark period will pass and when cricketers gather for the 12th US Open T20 tournament, it will be a celebration.

“We will get through this together. At the moment people are scared and things are looking bleak but don’t worry God is good and we will all get through this.

“We intend to mark this year’s US Open T20 tournament as a celebration of life and victory over this dark period. We have had 11 successful editions of this popular tournament to date and we will have the best of the lot come December.

“At this point in time, we want all our cricketers to take care of themselves and their families, keep doing the right things and leave the rest to us in terms of having a great tournament this year.” There will be US$100,000 in prize money available at this year’s tournament and a number of businesspeople have been showing interest in owning teams.

“We have taken a bit of a break in terms of traveling around and marketing this year’s tournament but this is temporary as we will be on the road as soon as things settle down signing new deals with team owners.

“Prior, to the arrival of this virus we have been making great ground in terms of getting owners on board and we think it will be business as usual as soon as this period is over. We have been working behind the scenes and planning the USA National Maq T10 and the US Open T20, so we will be ready when the world is ready for cricket again.”
