Islamabad United skipper Shadab Khan has been showered with endless appreciation by India’s former cricketer Aakash Chopra for his brillaint allround showing in the inconclusive 5th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Chopra, in a youtube video, heaped praise on Shadab who smashed 263 runs at an average of 37.57 and a strike-rate of 159.39.

“Shadab Khan was the player of the tournament for me. Even though he took only eight wickets, but he batted really well, so well done to Shadab and our Adaab to you,” Chopra said

Moreover, the cricketer-turned-commentator also also lauded Karachi Kings opener Babar Azam for finishing as the top-scorer in the league.

“Babar Azam has been absolutely brilliant. He is scoring runs consistently and was the highest run-scorer in this season.” he added

Chopra also talked about the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) decision to cut short the tournament and then eventually calling it off amid the coronavirus pandemic.

“PCB did a really good job of changing the rules. They got rid of the playoffs and instead decided to stage two semi-finals in a single day in order to finish the tournament as soon as possible. However, it was unfortunate that it got postponed,” he said.

Chopra also expressed delight about International cricket coming back to Pakistan, adding that hosting the entire PSL on homesoil was a proper statment by the PCB.

“But the best thing was to see cricket come back to Pakistan and the stadiums were filled with spectators. It was an incident-free PSL which is such a fantastic thing, as it would encourage other teams to tour Pakistan,” he concluded
